Wings with Roots for children

At Wings with Roots we believe that as parents nobody knows your child as well as you do. We would like to assist you to support your child in such a way that they can meet the demands placed on them by the current environment to the best of their abilities. We have a neurodevelopmental focus, acknowledging that children develop at different rates at different times. We believe that each child is unique, with strengths that can aid them and with challenges that they require support with and therefore no single approach will work for every child. We assess children with specialised tests which coupled with our clinical observation gives us a glimpse into the unique neuropsychological functioning of your child at this moment. The test results combined with your understanding, experience and knowledge of your child will be tailor-made into a parental coaching plan that will guide you in utilising their strengths while
supporting them through their challenges. Our aim is therefore to collaborate with your family in optimising your ability to overcome the challenges you are facing today.

Wings with Roots for adults

At Wings with Roots we offer a service to adults and children above the age of 16 where we conduct a thorough neuropsychological assessment to obtain each individual’s unique cognitive profile indicating strengths and weaknesses. Results of the assessment will be integrated to provide the individual with practical guidelines on using their unique strengths to overcome challenges in the demands currently placed on them by their environment. In addition, knowledge of the client’s unique neuropsychological profile will be used to provide guidance to the client’s immediate support system should they be in need of assistance. Caregivers will be assisted in understanding the client’s behaviour and supporting the client through challenges by making use of their strengths and / or retained abilities. Suggestions will also be made for environmental adaptations to improve the quality of the client’s life.

Clients that could benefit from such an assessment include:

  • Any individual aiming to improve cognitive potential;
  • Any individual diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury;
  • Any individual diagnosed with epilepsy;
  • Any individual diagnosed with a deteriorating neurological condition.
